How U.S. Attorney's Offices and 'Main Justice' Cooperate on FCA Cases - PART 2
And Best Practices for Working with Both

*** PART 2 *** (Part 1 was Oct. 14)

An FBA Qui Tam Section Zoom Roundtable

*** OCTOBER 26, 2020 | 12:30pm ET ***

The False Claims Act calls for qui tam complaints and written disclosures to be served on the U.S. Attorney for the judicial district where the qui tam is filed *and also* on the Attorney General of the United States. How do these two government offices divide the ensuing labor — and how can FCA practitioners approach each office most effectively?

Specifically, who calls the shots for cases of various sizes and types: The local prosecutor or the Civil Fraud Section at the U.S. Department of Justice? Who takes the lead on the investigation, in settlement talks, and during litigation? Should attorneys for relators and defendants focus on a single point-of-contact for the case as a whole, or deal with each office separately?

This Zoom Roundtable will offer an insider's look at the day-to-day partnership between AUSAs and "Main Justice" — and where savvy counsel should focus their efforts at each stage of an FCA case. All of our distinguished panelists have served in a U.S. Attorney's Office, at Main Justice, or both.

This event is organized by the Qui Tam Section of the Federal Bar Association.
